Greenup Meals on Wheels started ten years ago in August 2005 when a small group of volunteers were made aware of the needs of local elderly and disabled residents needing hot nutritious meals. Starting with a total of $125 and a tremendous amount of faith, the local supermarket agreed to prepare the meals for those in need and allowed the volunteers to pay them back in 30 days. The leap of faith paid off as the funds were raised thanks to generous citizens and local churches. After five years of passionately working to keep the program alive, their hard work paid off when a grant was awarded in October 2010 that allowed the organization to build their own kitchen and prepare the meals for their recipients.
